A Walk in the Woods

When you cannot go far, you can still go somewhere. Perhaps, take in the local state forests and/or state parks.

I have been exploring the Massachusetts State Parks and State Forests this summer. Hiking, boating, swimming, and admiring nature’s beauty—lovely, quirky, abundant and vibrant.

I have treasured each glimpse of a snake or frog or heron or deer or rabbit…they are out in nature, joining me in the moment. Our togetherness feels so right.

Away from cars and trucks and motorcycles, taking time to ponder what is before me just has to be healthy. I am away from home and my mind is opening up to new possibilities. The rocks and elevations, the slippery moss, the scattered leaves, the rotting boardwalk, the flying insects and the darting chipmunks, all keep me alert.

Why didn’t I think to do this before?
